TaskRabbit

Description

Taskrabbit is a local services platform where people earn money by helping customers with everyday jobs around the home.

The work covers many practical services. Taskers can offer furniture assembly, cleaning, moving help, TV mounting, home repairs, yard work, errands, and other services listed on the platform.

Person in a plaid shirt sits beside a ladder; screen reads “Earn money your way,” Albany, “Help Moving,” and “$45 per hour.”

You create a Tasker profile, choose the skills you want to offer, set your work area, and decide when you are available. Customers can then find and book you through Taskrabbit.

The platform gives Taskers control over their rates and schedules. US Taskers earned an average of $47 per hour, although actual earnings vary by location, task type, experience, and demand.

Taskers keep 100% of their hourly earnings and client tips. Taskrabbit charges service fees to clients rather than taking a percentage from the Tasker’s hourly rate.

You do not need to be an expert in every home service. The better approach is to list skills you can perform safely and reliably, then focus on the task types you know well.

Some jobs can also lead to repeat customers. If someone is happy with your work, they can book you again through the platform.

There are costs to joining in some markets. In the United States and Canada, Taskrabbit currently charges a one-time, nonrefundable $25 registration fee after registration is successfully processed. Paying the fee does not guarantee acceptance.

Taskers also need a smartphone because registration and task management are handled through the Tasker app. Requirements differ by country, but identity checks and a suitable bank account are part of the process.

Payments are made by direct deposit to an eligible checking account. Taskrabbit does not allow Taskers and clients to move task payments off the platform.

The biggest limitation is availability. Taskrabbit operates across the United States and eight countries, but Tasker registration depends on having access to an active service area.

For someone who already has a useful local skill, this can be a practical way to turn spare hours into paid work. It works best when you choose tasks that match your skills and avoid jobs that cost too much time or travel.
