Respondology is a social media moderation company that hires independent contractors to help review and moderate comments for brands, athletes, influencers, and other organizations.

As a moderator, your job is to review comments that the company’s technology flags for potential toxicity, spam, or other issues and make moderation decisions based on the guidelines provided.

The work can be done through Respondology’s moderation system, and the company describes it as flexible side work. Moderators can work as much or as little as they want by logging into the app and completing available moderation tasks. Respondology also states that moderators are paid every week.

This makes Respondology different from survey and microtask websites. You are being hired to perform an actual online moderation role, so the work involves reviewing user-generated content and deciding how it should be handled. You also need to follow the client’s moderation guidelines consistently.

There is one major restriction that beginners outside the United States need to know. Respondology currently hires U.S. based independent contractors who are at least 18 years old. It also lists several U.S. states where it does not currently hire contractors.

Applications are currently closed because Respondology has received a high number of applications. However, the company is accepting people onto its moderator waitlist and says it will contact applicants when positions become available.

Because of the U.S. only requirement and the current application pause, Respondology is better treated as a site to keep on your radar rather than an immediate earning option for most international users.
