Turo

Description

Turo is a car-sharing marketplace where people can rent vehicles directly from local hosts. If you own an eligible car, you can list it on Turo and earn money by making it available for guests to book.

Turo webpage

You set your vehicle’s price, availability, pickup details, and other trip settings through the platform.

This can turn an underused car into an income-producing asset. You do not need to drive passengers around like you would with a rideshare service. Instead, guests book your vehicle for a set period and return it after their trip.

How much you keep depends on the earnings plan available in your country. In the United States, Turo currently offers three plans with host shares of 70%, 80%, or 90% of the trip price. Plans with a higher host share also come with greater damage responsibility.

Turo also allows hosts to earn from approved reimbursements, delivery, and Extras. Hosts receive 100% of approved reimbursements and 90% of delivery and Extras charges.

The platform is best suited to people who already own a suitable vehicle and can handle cleaning, maintenance, guest communication, and vehicle handoffs. You also need personal auto insurance and must confirm that your insurer allows car sharing.

Turo currently operates in the United States, Australia, France, the United Kingdom, and selected Canadian provinces and territories. It does not currently operate in every country.
