Outlier AI is a remote contributor platform where people help train and improve artificial intelligence systems. Contributors review AI responses, assess outputs, create examples, and complete other tasks based on their skills and subject knowledge.

The platform offers projects for general contributors as well as people with specialist knowledge. Current opportunities can cover areas such as writing, coding, mathematics, science, languages, and other fields.

The application process starts with basic account setup and identity checks. You then review project guidelines and complete qualification tasks before gaining access to paid work.

Your pay depends on the project, your expertise, and your location. Outlier says the exact tasking rate is shown before you begin a project. Its current platform also lists opportunities across more than 50 countries.

Some projects pay by the hour, while others can use task-based payments. Outlier’s own guide gives a general range of $10 to $50 per hour, although specialist roles can have different rates.

The platform can be attractive to people with strong writing, research, coding, or subject knowledge. Specialist contributors may qualify for projects that pay more than general AI review work.

The schedule is flexible. Contributors choose when and how much they work, with no minimum number of hours required.

Payments are processed weekly on Tuesdays for work completed during the previous payment period. Available payment methods include PayPal, Airtm, and ACH bank transfer.

There is a catch. Getting accepted does not guarantee a steady supply of tasks. Project availability can change based on demand, your qualifications, and the needs of each project.

Outlier also has a fairly high entry bar for some roles. You may need a strong resume, relevant education or work experience, and the ability to pass project assessments.
