You first complete an assessment based on the type of work you want to do. If accepted, you can access projects that match your skills and choose when you want to work.

General projects currently start around $25 to $30 per hour according to DataAnnotation’s current FAQ. Multilingual work starts around $20 per hour, while coding, STEM, and some professional projects can start around $50 to $100 or more per hour.

The actual rate depends on your qualification track and the project you receive. Higher rates are generally tied to stronger technical, academic, or professional skills.

Payments are made through PayPal. DataAnnotation says payments arrive within a few days after you request them, so there is no long monthly payment cycle to wait through.

The platform does not require AI experience for all general projects. Strong English, research ability, attention to detail, and critical thinking matter more for many of the entry tracks. Some specialist projects have much higher requirements.

There is also a downside that beginners should understand. Acceptance is not guaranteed, and recent reviews include complaints about long assessment waits, limited project availability, account restrictions, and poor support.

At the same time, many users report good pay and reliable payments, so the platform has a mixed recent review picture rather than a simple good or bad record.
