Scripted is a content marketplace that connects freelance writers with business clients who need blog posts, articles, white papers, web copy, and social media content. It has been around since 2011 and works on a tiered system where your performance unlocks better-paying work over time.

When you first get accepted, you start in the general job pool. The assignments at this level are straightforward, but the pay is modest, around $24.50 for a 400-word article at the entry minimum.

As you complete work and earn good client ratings, you move up tiers. The higher you go, the more you can charge and the better the clients get. Writers at higher tiers also get the chance to pitch their own article ideas directly to clients, which is a different and more engaging way to generate income than just claiming available jobs.

One thing Scripted does that most platforms skip is a kill fee. If you write an article and the client rejects it but Scripted’s internal review determines you met the brief properly, you still get paid at least half the promised rate. That protection matters. Too many writing platforms leave writers with nothing when clients are indecisive.

The honest picture recently is that work volume on Scripted has dropped noticeably. Several long-term writers have reported fewer assignments since AI content tools became widespread. Some writers who relied on the platform heavily say their income from it is not what it used to be.

That said, writers with specialized knowledge in technology, SaaS, healthcare, and finance still find consistent work because those clients need human expertise, not just generated text.
