Teachable

Description

Teachable is a platform that lets creators turn their knowledge into online courses, coaching programs, memberships, and digital products.

Instead of selling each lesson manually, you build your content once and give students access through your own Teachable school. The platform handles course delivery, checkout, student access, and several parts of the payment process.

You can teach almost any subject where people are willing to pay for structured guidance. Business, writing, fitness, languages, personal finance, marketing, design, and career skills are some examples.

You decide what to sell and how much to charge. Teachable supports one-time purchases, payment plans, subscriptions, bundles, and memberships, giving creators several ways to structure their offers.

The platform is different from course marketplaces that bring students to you. You are mainly responsible for attracting your own audience through your website, email list, social media, search traffic, or other marketing channels.

Teachable currently has four main plans. The Starter plan costs $39 per month when billed monthly and charges a 7.5% transaction fee. Builder starts at $89 monthly with no base transaction fee, while Growth starts at $189 monthly. Annual billing lowers the listed monthly prices.

That monthly cost is worth considering before you sign up. You need enough sales to cover the platform fee and your other business costs before the course becomes profitable.

Teachable Payments is built on Stripe and handles payment processing, payouts, tax, and fraud protection in supported markets. Other payment gateways are available in markets where Teachable Payments is not offered.

Students can pay using several methods, including cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Afterpay, and Klarna where supported. Teachable also supports sales in more than 120 currencies across more than 200 countries and regions.

The strongest part of Teachable is the control it gives creators. You own the course business, set your prices, choose your offers, and build your own audience instead of depending on a marketplace’s search traffic.

The trade-off is that you need something worth selling and a way to reach potential buyers. Teachable provides the tools, but it does not guarantee students or sales.
