Society6 is a print-on-demand marketplace where artists can sell their artwork on products such as wall art, pillows, rugs, bedding, apparel, phone cases, and other home and lifestyle products.
The platform handles production, shipping, and customer support, so artists can focus on creating and promoting their designs.
To earn money, you upload original artwork to your Society6 Artist Shop. Society6 places approved designs on eligible products and handles the sale when a customer orders.
You receive an artist earning from each qualifying sale instead of buying inventory or producing the products yourself.
Society6 changed its artist program in March 2025. It moved away from its previous open marketplace model and began curating which artists and designs could be sold on the platform. Artists can no longer freely set their own markup percentages across products.
The current earnings structure uses a 5% markup on most products and a 10% markup on selected products, including pillows, wall tapestries, framed art, and posters. Trade, wholesale, and marketplace orders use a 5% net sale commission rate.
Society6 handles the manufacturing and shipping, which removes much of the work involved in running your own print-on-demand store. You still need to create artwork that people want to buy and build enough visibility for your designs to generate sales.
Payments are made monthly. Earnings remain pending during the customer return period before becoming cleared for payment.
Society6 is also moving artist payments to Trolley, where international artists can currently use PayPal and US artists can use PayPal or ACH.
