Maven is an online learning platform that allows experts, consultants, coaches, and experienced professionals to create and sell educational products.

Its main focus is cohort-based courses, where instructors teach students through a structured live program, but creators can also offer one-day workshops, free lessons, resources, coaching, office hours, and personalized feedback.

The platform is designed for people who have useful professional knowledge they can turn into a structured learning experience. A course could focus on subjects such as marketing, business, leadership, technology, career development, writing, design, or another area where you have practical expertise.

Maven provides tools for creating course pages, accepting student payments, managing enrollments, communicating with students, and running live sessions. It also integrates with tools such as Stripe and Zoom, which can reduce some of the administration involved in running an online course.

Creators set their own course prices and retain ownership of their original course content. Maven’s current revenue model gives instructors 90% of course revenue, with Maven keeping 10% as its platform fee. Stripe processing fees are deducted separately.

Maven also has a Student Growth Program designed to help instructors attract students through activities such as marketplace exposure, business sales, promotions, paid marketing, and partnerships. Some of these sales can have different revenue arrangements, so instructors should understand the applicable terms before relying on them as an income source.

There is no monthly platform fee to start building a course. However, you need a Stripe-supported country to accept course payments through Maven, so availability depends partly on where you live.

Maven is better suited to people with valuable knowledge or professional experience than complete beginners looking for a simple online job. Creating a course also requires work outside the platform, including developing useful content, marketing the course, and delivering a good student experience.

Maven provides tools and marketplace support, but it does not guarantee that a course will attract students or generate income.
