Listverse

Listverse is a writing website built around Top 10 lists covering unusual facts, history, science, mysteries, culture, crime, and other interesting subjects.

It has been publishing lists since 2009 and uses an editorial process that includes research, editing, and fact-checking. For writers, the site offers a way to get published and potentially move into its paid writer team.

The current submission system differs from the older Listverse articles that offered a fixed payment for every accepted list.

Listverse now states clearly that new submissions are not paid. Instead, writers submit a list for consideration, and writers who produce content that readers enjoy may eventually be selected to join the paid Listverse writing team.

Getting accepted is not easy. Lists must contain 10 items, run between 1,400 and 2,500 words, use reputable sources, and meet Listverse’s editorial standards. The site also expects strong English, original topics, and content not already covered by Listverse or other websites.

There is also a major country restriction for new submissions. Listverse currently accepts submissions from the United States, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and South Africa. Writers outside these countries cannot submit through the standard system unless they are already published Listverse writers.

This makes Listverse better suited to experienced English writers who enjoy research and can come up with unusual, well-sourced topics.

It is not a quick writing gig where you submit an article and receive guaranteed payment. The main path to earning is getting noticed through accepted work and eventually becoming part of the paid writer team.
